About Passion Distributing
Our Story
Our family named Henry's Passion LLC T/A Passion Distributing to honor our oldest child, Henry Lubke IV, who at the age of 16 decided he wanted to become a winemaker. After his first year of college, he was given the opportunity to work the harvest at Chateau Felice in Sonoma County, California. Henry stayed with Chateau Felice becoming a member of their team and their family. Two months after his 21st birthday an undetected heart condition took his life. He was a winemaker of promise and will always be in our hearts.

At Passion Distributing, our mission is to provide our customers with the best service possible. Our company serves the Maryland and Washington, DC markets and strives to build lasting relationships with our customers that are built on trust and dependability. We represent some of the finest wines, spirits and beer in the world and our family is humbled and honored to be given the opportunity to provide these quality products to our customers.

Alain Junguenet Selection started in 1984 as a broker of estate-bottled wines from across France. Today, Alain Junguenet’s company (and name!) is known as a trusted imported and distributor of over-delivering traditional French wines that offer an excellent sense of their terroir. Specialists of the Rhone Valley, Châteauneuf-du-Pape in particular, our selection is always evolving with the ultimate goal of bringing new and exciting producers and regions to our customer’s tables and shelves. In 2007, Nicolas Mestre, Andrew Greene and Ted Burns jumped at Michael Williams' offer to create a shared wine cellar ‘beneath’ the Downtown Mall and the former Williams Corner Bookstore space. Using his carpentry skills, and some reclaimed bookshelves, Michael created an array of bins and racks to store our eclectic collection of obscure varietals, regions and formats. From this subterranean lair, the idea was hatched to create a wine importing company dedicated to bringing authentic, natural wines to Virginia

Founder Michael Downey worked in various realms of the Washington DC-area wine business for nearly 30 years, until his death in 2002. Michael always looked for producers who practice an “enlightened traditional approach": whose wines offer regional typicity with a reasonable price/quality ratio. The search invariably begins with finding special individuals behind individual wines. Most of the estates that Downey Selections represents are quite small (and usually family-run). In some cases, the wines are little-known abroad (or very rare). All of our producers enjoy a particularly high reputation within their respective regions.

Well-Oiled Wine Company began in December 2005 as a wine import and marketing company. In April 2006 we launched our first wines to a few select distributors and have since expanded to all major markets through 45 states, DC and Puerto Rico.
The Well-Oiled Wine Company philosophy necessitates a small portfolio of vibrant brands. Our requirements are demanding yet simple: Outstanding wine. Memorable branding. Remarkable value for money. We take pride in our supplier relationships and the quality and value of the wines we bring to market.
